Nancy Perdue That's what I always hope for, is for a Pitbull to go Shitbull on it's owner. If the owner is a normal person than they will realize why these dogs get a bad name. If not they will be a nut in denial.

Scooby is a 2- to 3-year-old male American pit bull terrier... Scooby is dog selective (code word for eats small, old, weak or passive dogs), so would do best in a one-dog household (code words for dog aggressive). He will be protective of his family (code word for human aggressive.)
***All of the above are code words for not suitable for a family pet nor to be in our people and animal filled communities, and should not be considered adoptable.
***It is also code words for the shelter knows this Pit Bull is high risk, has fought with dogs in the shelter, and an admission that this shelter is adopting out aggressive dogs.

  • Valerie Webber One would think that a shelter would have bylaws refusing to release aggressive dogs to anybody but rescues.

  • Cindy Lorenz Umm- I would consider my young Border Collie goofy & "needing manners"- meaning he will jump on you with dirty paws or tear up a pillow if let unwatched for too long.

  • Wendy Lambert Dixon I am an animal lover and it breaks my heart to know these want-to-be pets are DNA bred to be killers for sport. SPORT! How horrible is that?

  • Cindy Lorenz Wendy Lambert Dixon If the owners & breeders of these dogs truly loved them like they say, they would stop breeding them! I like the Rottweiler, but I would rather see them go extinct than be used like this breed. I'm a big advocate of restricted ownership of certain breeds, because I not only care about the safety of the public, but also I am tired of seeing so many abused dogs

  • Nancy Perdue The goal of animal shelters is to adopt out animals that are suitible to be pets/companions. Not defective monsters that will cause havoc in society. frown emoticon You know the idiots that think these dogs should be adopted out anyway ought to be the ones made to adopt them their selves! "CRETINS!"

  • Wendy Lambert Dixon Cindy Lorenz, I'm right there with you. Over-breeding is another form of animal abuse, IM(ntbh)O; Dalmatians have been so over- and inbred they are also losing their desirability as pets. (I also love Rotties, have only met 3, sweet everyone, but would not have one as a pet.)

  • Cindy LorenzNow that Rotties are not so over-bred, there are less problems in the breed. Like Malinois, Dobies & some other guarding breeds, they need to be bred by only the most responsible breeders who breed for good stable temperament & adopted out by rescues that do extensive temperament tests & will not hesitate to put down any unstable animals. Those breeds can & do live in society without a problem. I'm proud to say that none of the Rotties I've owned or fostered has ever hurt any human or animal. I'm a member of their National breed club & thru the efforts of many, problems with the breed have decreased. But I have yet to see any Bully breed club do anything to change the problems of their breed.

  • Valerie WebberIt just struck me that it is normal procedure for most shelters to immediately euthanize a feral cat. These very same cats are terrified of people, but with patience, can be tamed and make wonderful pets. If shelters make it a practice to euthanize harmless feral cats, what in the world is their problem with euthanizing savage Pit Bulls? Why is the no kill nation failing feral cats while alternatively, where Pit Bulls are concerned, are they failing people? There is really something wrong with this picture.

  • Laurel Davis and feral cats mainly kill rodents--which is more useful than killing people's dogs, cats, horses, children.
